James earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas Southern University where he excelled academically and athletically.  As a Texas Southern Tiger, James played as both a running back and defensive back.  In 2015, James was inducted into the Texas Southern University Hall of Fame.  Following his collegiate career, he went on to play in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts, the Houston Oilers, and the New York Giants.  James also played in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores, where he helped the team to win the World Championship in 1996.
 
After his career in the NFL, James spent time in the banking and financial services industry.  He founded Fight 4 Me, Inc., a non-profit organization that assisted young men to develop character, vision, and life skills. Through this non-profit organization, James assisted over 100 men in securing collegiate scholarships over a five-year period.
 
He was the 2017 City of Houston Humanitarian Award recipient, has served as part of the Wells Fargo National Diversity & Inclusion Initiative, and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.  James was also the President of Huddle Up, NFL Former Player’s Association Houston Chapter and he also spent time as Treasurer of the NFL Former Player’s Association, Houston Chapter following his NFL career.
 

James is an NCAA Division 1 defensive back football coach and serves as an NFL liaison.  James, along with his wife Monique, have a podcast called The Edge Talk with James & Mo.  James is a father, entrepreneur, author, poet, husband, and grandfather.
