This year, we opted for a goals list!


We hope your start to the new year is going well! Many of us have great expectations for 2024! Some people have assembled a list of goals, while others have created beautifully crafted vision boards. In prior years, we created vision boards, but we opted for a goals list to design our life this year. Whatever form your goals take 2024 promises to be a year filled with endless possibilities for achieving them.

We must also set aside time to get still, think, and create!


As we live this journey called life, we must be intentional. In addition to engaging in the work necessary to achieve our goals, we must also set aside time to get still, think, and create. I have learned that journaling is one of the best ways to do this. Many people overcomplicate journaling, making it time-consuming and thus difficult to incorporate daily. Journaling can take as little time as you would like. In fact, setting aside as little as 10 minutes a day to journal is significant for achieving your goals. As you journal, you become equipped to design your desired life while expressing gratitude for the many blessings you receive.

Journaling is my secret to self-awareness, organization, and purposeful living. It's all about the finer details, the little things that make a big difference. Let me take you on a journey through my journal, where I unlocked my true potential and paved the way for my dream career in collegiate football coaching.


At the ripe age of 46, I found myself at a crossroads. While I was thriving in the corporate world and making an even greater impact on young student-athletes with our non-profit organization, my heart yearned for something more – a career in college football coaching, a calling I couldn't ignore. My wife and I sat down, contemplating the next chapter of my life, and dove into action on paper first! I wrote down all I wanted to accomplish to achieve this dream. One was finishing my college degree. 


It wasn't an easy journey, but at almost 50, I boldly decided to return to college and complete my final semester, earning my Bachelor's Degree in Business. Little did I know how this degree would become the catalyst I needed to jumpstart a career I had long desired.  This degree came in handy as it was a requirement to be a college coach.

Reflecting on my path, it may seem like my transformation happened quickly to everyone else, but within the pages of my journal, I uncovered the true power of how I could design the life I always wanted through proper planning and dedication.

As a young girl, I knew I was destined to be an entrepreneur and a lawyer, but I lacked the guidance to chart the path. I was determined, even though I didn't know precisely how to achieve these goals.


Then, in my early twenties, I had a revelation: to design my dream life, I only had to commit to designing my days. I realized that my days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years – ultimately getting my desired life. So, you guessed it, I turned to journaling.


Every day, I began journaling the critical things in life:

  • Things I was grateful for.

  • Goals I set for that day.

  • Things I was praying for.

  • Manifestations of my previous prayers and affirmations.

These journals have become my treasured companions, a constant reminder of the power of planning, gratitude, and manifestation.
