The Keys to Finding Time to Pursue Your Passion - Appointment Living for Time Mastery

Do you ever wish you had more than 24 hours in a day? If you just had two extra hours a day, you could work on those goals you set for yourself. There were certainly days we felt that way. Then we discovered a technique that helped us master our time and live our lives by appointment living for time mastery. We had read numerous books and attended various seminars that taught us time management. Then we realized that instead of simply managing our time, we needed to discover our purpose and prioritize our time accordingly. Once we began to master our time in this way, we saw tremendous increase in our results! Let us explain.

We routinely set goals in five areas of our life: faith, family, fitness, finances, and fun. In order to accomplish these goals, we had to find a way to purposely spend our time with appointment living for time mastery as our primary objective. Every moment of our day needed to be purposely spent toward the goals we set for ourselves: individually, as a marital unit, in our careers and businesses, and for our family. We had to take it a step farther than merely managing the time we had; we had to instead, discover our God-given purpose, ensure that our daily activities aligned with purpose and become more purposeful about our time and strategic about how and with whom we spent our time. As a result, we began to live our lives through a mechanism we call, “Appointment Living”.

Appointment Living, or living by appointment, is a concept where your days are specifically designed or planned to be in alignment with your purpose, your vision, and your goals. Appointment living is a lifestyle; it’s a method to gain the maximum from your days and to reap the maximum result for your life. If you don’t think you have time in your days to focus on your dreams, keep reading!

The most important step to living by appointment is to discover your life’s purpose. What is the calling God has placed on your life? This is such a crucial step in this process. Before we could ensure we were maximizing our days and spending our time in the right ways, we needed to get clear on God’s plan for us. As such, we sought God’s counsel to discover His purpose in creating us and allowing us to be husband and wife. Once we knew our purpose, we set our vision and goals and then planned our days. This is key because we must spend time on goals that cause manifestation of our life’s purpose, instead of focusing on non-essential tasks or allowing our day to dictate our schedule. If you have not yet discovered your purpose, do not worry. We have tools to aid you in this step.
Once you have discovered your purpose, crystallize your vision and your goals. And then determine the tasks needed to accomplish your goals. Structure your days so that except for true emergencies, every moment of your day is planned. Living this way is like putting your time on a budget. You plan your day so that no moment is wasted. Plan time to commune with God, time to sleep, time to work, time to exercise, and time to unwind. When we focused our time in this manner, we discovered that we had 1-2 extra hours a day. We utilized this “found time” to pursue our passions.
Time is the most valuable asset you have and how you spend it determines the level of success you will enjoy. The one thing all people have in common is that we each 24 hours a day. How we spend our time is a direct correlation to the level of success we will achieve. So, be purposeful with your time. Discover your purpose, set your vision and goals. And then, plan your days. When you live by appointment, you will uncover the time you need to pursue your passion. We are witnesses and so are many of our clients that have gone through this exercise with us.
